Bay Club-Waikoloa, HI (10/26/02)

On Oct.26, 2002 we flew to the big island for a wonderful three week visit to the Bay Club in Waikoloa, HI. The rental car we had reserved was not available so they offered us a Mustang convertible for the same price as the compact car we had reserved. Needless to say we accepted the offer. The Bay Club resort is a beautiful resort located on a golf course and very close to the beach. During this visit we explored the entire island. The highlight was a helicopter tour of the volcano and other highlights of the island.

Waipio Valley

Pahio at Shearwater-Princeville, Kauai (11/14/02)

On Nov. 14 we flew from Kona, HI to Kauai for a wonderful week at the Pahio at Shearwater resort in Princeville, Kauai. We had reserved a small studio just up the street from the Shearwater but were able to cancel it and book a large two bedroom unit just the week before. Photo's of the unit below.

 

 

 

We enjoyed exploring Kauai with another convertible and took another helicopter tour which was awesome. On our last day the really big waves were coming in so we spent the morning watching professional surfers from our lanai.

Pahio at Ka'eo Kai - Princeville Kauai (4/20/06)

On 4/20/06 we started a 5 week visit to Hawaii. The first 2 weeks were spent at the Pahio at Ka-eo Kai in the golf community of Princeville which is on the north shore of the island of Kauai. We enjoyed the beautiful unit and views as shown in the photos below.

 

 

We took several day trips to various parts of Kauai including a visit to the Kilauea Lighthouse. Built in 1913, the Kilauea Lighthouse beacon used to steer ships traversing the blue Pacific to safety. It's also a favorite stop for bird watchers with the Kilauea Point Wildlife Refuge right next door.  Click here for a tour of the Lighthouse.

We enjoyed several beautiful walks along the golf course from the resort to the famous Princeville Hotel.

 

From the Princeville Hotel we enjoyed beautiful views of Hanalei Bay. The crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay is surrounded by magnificent and grand mountains that guard and protect her. Although known as a premier surfing spot in the winter, this North Shore jewel is also a playground the rest of the year for swimming, canoe racing and fishing.   Click here to enjoy the beach at Hanalei Bay.

 

The serene Wailua River winds its way by breathtaking waterfalls and flourishing jungles along the east side of Kauai. The Wailua River is fed by two main waterfalls, Opaekaa and Wailua Falls which cascade down from the wettest spot in the world, Mt. We enjoyed visiting the Spouting Horn. This south-side wonder is a surf-driven 30-foot geyser that shoots through a submerged lava tube.

 

Beyond the spouting horn we drove on to view the dramatic and colorful 12-mile-long Waimea Canyon on Kauai's west side.  Click here for a helicopter view of Waimea Canyon

Royal Sea Cliff Resort-Kona, HI (5/04/06)

On 5/04/06 we flew from Kauai to the Royal Sea Cliff resort in Kona, HI. This is a very nice resort right on the coast. The resort is a combination of full ownership units and timeshare units. It had two beautiful pools which were the perfect place to watch beautiful sunsets. Click here to view the resort.
