Wapato Point Resort-Manson, WA (9/25/09)

On 9/25/09 we flew to Seattle for a 3 week visit to Washington State. The first week we enjoyed a stay at the Wapato Point Resort in Manson, WA. The resort is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Chelan which is a 50 mile long lake in a beautiful valley in the Cascades. We enjoyed visiting the vineyards and apple orchards in the town of Manson.

On Sunday we enjoyed a visit to Leavenworth which is a testament to the determination of the human spirit. The communit rallied to turn a dying timber and reil town int an alpine Bavarian village. We enjoyed the Fall Leaf Festival which included free entertainment and some good German food.  Video

We also enjoyed a visit to Ohme Gardens in Wanatchee which also gave us great views of the Columbia River.   Video

On Monday we took the Lady of the Lake boat 50 miles to the upper end of the lake to visit the town of Stehekin. Stehekin has about 90 residents with access only by water, air or trail. It is definately a step back in time. Very remote and beautiful.
