Gaslamp Plaza Suites-San Diego, CA (12/29/02)

After enjoying Christmas at home with the family we headed for California. On our way we spent a couple days in Phoenix to checkout various timeshares in that area that we might be interested in visiting sometime in the future. We arrived in San Diego on 12/29/02 for a week stay at the Gaslamp Plaza Suites which is located in the Gaslamp district downtown. It is a nice area of the city with lots of great restaurants and shopping. The Gaslamp Plaza is a historic hotel which has been converted to a timeshare. We enjoyed breakfast at the rooftop pool which had some great views of the city and the nearby harbor.
We headed to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl parade on 12/30. The day before the parade we enjoyed touring the float building areas to see the millions of flowers on the floats up close. Even though we had just been to the Rose Bowl parade the previous year we decided to return because our local high school band was marching in the parade. It was great to watch the parade with lots of folks from our home town. We also enjoyed visiting a co-worker who had his motor home parked right on the parade route. During the remainder of the week we enjoyed a visit to the San Diego zoo and other sites in Balboa Park. I also enjoyed a day at the nearby convention center for the 2003 Auto Show.
